Am I Hearing From God?
But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction. Jeremiah 17:23
This is crazy. Someone once said, " Doing the same things again and again and expecting a different result is insanity." I totally agree....it is insanity. But here's something even more earth shattering: Why is that when we hear from God we act as though we can ignore His instructions and look for a great outcome?
I just read a blog post from an acquaintance regarding women, love and finding "Mr. Right." It was so negative and filled with doom and despair that it left me shaking my head. I almost believe it was done simply to get reposts and comments...certainly anyone looking for love and celebration could not have such a dismal view of life and loving. Wow!
The author talked about the loveless lives of older couples in that there is no more love and adoration between them. She also stated that many older women simply stay in those unloving relationships because these poor and pitiful women cannot start over because they simply cannot perform in the digital age as well as the don't have any great looks to get a man's attention. Oh, then she eluded to the fact that all men are dogs. Sigh...okay.
So we tend to do things our way without following God's commandments (instructions) and think we're going to get a perfect result...really?
God's plan clearly lays out the formula for obtaining friendship, love and even a husband and yet we decide to short change His ways for our concocted messes and expect a rose garden. Hmmm....
You see there is one person in this world you can never fool..and that's yourself. We all have to make cognizant steps in life. We all have to either decide we are following the Master plan or we've sold out for much less. In so doing we bring unwanted people, distressing situations, and life-long scars of pain remembered into our lives because we did not want to distinguish God's voice from those of friends and family. We put God in the same little row-boat we put ourselves in when trying to navigate the great sea of life rather than getting in the luxury liner He has prepared for us to glide along with smooth sailing with a few storms here and there.
God instructs in every facet of life never leaving us to figure it out for ourselves - hoping for a good response. It's never left up to happenstance as some would believe. God expects obedience in all matters. When you obey you gain the 'keys to access.' It's only when we disobey that we trip out, hate life, become disgruntled, lose access to the inner-sanctum of ideas, insight and invention. We lose time, money, wealth, beauty, opportunity, youth, energy, vitality, strength, commonsense, worth, value, essentially we lose ourselves to doubt, depression and despair.
Isn't it just easier to hear? Yes?
