Your Voice Ain't Like Mine
Your voice ain't like mine. Too often I find myself feverishly helping others to find their voices to lend to issues and conversations that resonate very loudly with me and some of the social passions that sway opinions for the common good. Yes, I still believe in the common good for mankind.
What I have found is that no matter how many voices lend themselves to an issue or a cause it "ain't" like my voice. Even though I agree with a discourse or with someone who stands to promote the same platform that I support, yet those voices cannot and does not replace mine.
More often than not there is a tendency to allow others to speak for us. More often than not we allow politicians, the pulpit, or popular icons choose our discourse and we guise our discontentment for what we allowed with approving nods, yet, we remain empty and even listless because we voluntarily stifled our own voices - we aborted our own strength to be heard. You may be saying one thing and I may say another (all in support of whatever) yet my voice will resonate to some - while yours will resonate with others. My voice may be anointed - whereas yours my not be. In either case, it is imperative first that we obey. We individually must speak.
We must always obey the voice of God and move when He says. We must always speak when He prompts us. We must never take for granted our own voices that must be included in the protest to injustices against the poor, even unrighteousness. Relinquishing our power to others is the first sign of a diminishing society. We cannot excuse our silence on the basis that someone else has voiced our opinion or concern. It is the weapon that cannot be taken for granted. When you lift your voice high to condemn unfairness, inequality, selfishness and greed you lift yourself to a higher calling; a higher mandate for justice.
Don't be fooled as I have been in thinking that my support of others sharing the same passions and desires did my job. No one will ever replace "my" voice and neither should anyone replace "yours."
